Our Projects

Currently, Friends of Marquette Park Membership includes approximately 140 households, representing 215 individual members. This level of support allows us to accomplish many of our projects. Which include:

  • Advocating for Park Maintenance of grounds and facilities

  • Promoting Beach and Water Safety through education, publicity and community involvement

  • Supporting Preservation of Natural Areas and erosion control

  • Providing Respite Areas with memorial bench project

  • Establishing Marquette Park as a destination for recreation and points of interest with signage:

    • Water Safety

    • Points of Interest

    • Trails for Hiking and Biking

    • Universally Accessible Areas

    • Carry-In, Carry-Out Initiative

    • Pedestrian, Cycler, Paddler and Driver Safety

  • Maintaining landscape and hardscape of Fr. Marquette Garden and preservation of Fr. Marquette Statue

  • Bringing cultural exhibits and events to Marquette Park

  • Maintaining a collaborative, trusting relationship with Gary Parks Department and Gary Administration

  • Partnering with organizations to enhance Marquette Park

  • Utilizing volunteers whenever possible

  • Encouraging Investment in Marquette Park through financial development/fundraising
